About The Artist |
|
|
You really want to know? From childhood, I have expressed myself artistically in many mediums. I experimented with materials and methods, learning much, and having fun in the process. As an art major at the University of Northern Iowa, I studied studio techniques and art history. Outside pressures convinced me to pursue a more “practical” course of study and I found myself receiving a degree in computer science. While working in a career as a Software Engineer, I have continued to pursue artistic endeavors over the years, experimenting with painting techniques and printmaking. A desire to build an intaglio press pushed me to take a welding course. I took the course and built that press, and have enjoyed it greatly, but for the past few years, I have been welding sculptures of steel and found objects. I have exhibited in art shows around the Midwest since 2004. I have received numerous awards and have enjoyed the recognition. Mostly though, I enjoy creating, exhibiting, and talking to patrons. When my work moves someone to smile, laugh, or wonder, then I am most happy with my work. With their support and the support of my family, I continue to develop as an artist exploring new avenues of self-expression and creativity.
